Start from the default tune

Always note the default settings first. If a change makes the car slower, you can return to a known baseline.

Gearbox settings

Use the gearbox control available on your car’s tuning screen. Record its starting value and test one change at a time. Do not assume that another car’s settings apply to your exact build.

Nitrous and tires

The official tuning screen includes nitrous and tire pressure when the relevant parts are tuneable. Save both starting settings. Test changes separately rather than assuming one direction always improves every car.

Test and repeat

Run the same race several times after each change. Only keep a change when your times get better consistently.
